Watched Gamer, then attended Marc Jacobs' Do

After reading Fawk's excellent review (complete with spoilers alert!) and exciting synopsis on the movie The Gamer, I felt I had to catch it. And I did! On the last day too (30th September when the tix will expire!). Here's a promotional poster of Gerald Butler in Gamer...

His wife, played by body perfect Amber Valetta....
Actually, I am not into gaming and have not played any of the computer games, not even SIMs , in fact I dozed of in the beginning of the movie!!!! I only woke up when the hero started vomitting and peeing into the car petrol tank and walla!!(I think Fawk meant voila!!) the truck could run! (on vomit and pee in lieu of petrol)!! From them on, the movie had a storyline that I could follow!!!!
After the movie, I popped into Marc Jacobs for my hor d'oeuvres and cocktails....the event was from 3 to 8 pm and at 4.30, I was just in time as the party was in full swing!!! Don't you think I have such a lovely afternoon? A movie followed by afternoon cocktail invitation. At night, 8 pm, I went for line-dancing practice, then drove to Kinrara and dropped into bed exhausted, which is why my blog was caption-less as I had uploaded and published the pictures before sleep got the better of me!!!!

Here are some designs by Marc Jacobs that I selected from the net: a purse ala LV graffitti:

Gorgeous shoes that I wished I could wear...(creaky knees and cranky bones?...)

Fantastic sexy design!! (designed to kill and cripple too!)

Only Kate Moss can wear these!!!

Artful postcard and e poster for the invitation...got this in my inbox.

Min Hui of Style sent me this invitation:

cupcakes in 3 designs

My choice: some savoury drinkable in a shot glass, prawn, spicy and salmon nibbles, and fudge

3. Prawn in olive oil...yummy!!

No one seemed to be interested in the food except me!

I don't drink and drive so I had juice with some sparklies

Watched this Miss Moneybags busy parting with some else's money.

Then she sat down and had ONE cupcake...she already had a huge paperbag of JUICY COUTURE bags and accessories. BTW she had a fantastic figure, tall, young and drop dead gorgeous....no wonder she is rolling in cash.

Feeling ravenous, I dropped by the Cheras Velodrome Malay Food Centre to look for some grub ...at the open car park I saw this: Locked and Padlocked Doors?

Ha ha ha!!!! No, not doors but car doors!!! I thought the car lock was spoilt so they had to resort to using a padlock.....

Spaghetti Dinner, Mid Autumn Festival 28 September 2009

We were invited for a spaghetti dinner at Bangsar and it being Mid Autumn Festival, I brought my stash of lantern collection.

Ha, ha! Can you imagine this? We started off with two lanterns (a butterfly and a dragon for Ken,) and papa made two more: an aeroplane and a fish. I kept the butterfly and dragon! Then, every year I buy two new ones and keep them all (too beautiful to throw...can sell on e- bay or not?)

A clearer picture of the dragon lantern. Below, Ken who can hardly walk yet ! admiring his lantern.

Here, he gamely poses with his very first lantern, I am such a hoarder!!!! It must be about 20 years old!! Really!

Me and my nephew with only one quarter (only 1/4!!!) of the lanterns that I took out!!! They don't make them like they used to!!!

Sue took time off her busy schedule to join us for dinner, (studying for Accounting exam) and El took the trouble to come too. Papa dropped by after work.

Dessert: mock pomegranate in suntan milk....this one is cold dessert (mock, because the bits of pomegranate inside were actually water chestnuts coated in starch) very ingenious of Aunti Siok Yin.....below: agar-agar.

Tai Kor (not the Secret Society type lah but oldest brother) and Sa Koh (not in picture) also joined us.
Hot dessert was longan in sweet syrup.

Auntie SY with Tuti and Khoon, she is such a gracious hostess and a great cook.
These two, being children of papa's niece, have to call Jenn "Auntie Jenn Jenn" even though they are both older than her!!! LOL

Roast chicken for Kong Kong in case he doesn't care for spaghetti or lasagne

Appetiser: Hot Pumpkin soup

Garden Fresh Salad with french dressing

and here the maid is bringing out shepherd's pies

Spaghetti with meatballs and chicken ham

Chicken pot pies

Lasagne
Paper Lanterns lighted with electric bulbs lend a festive air

Food served invitingly on the patio

The whole family came out in full force with Grandfather!

Cucu and cicit (great grandchildren) and greatgrandfather!!!
Spaghetti, lasagne, chicken pot pies and shepherd's pies for lantern festival dinner? That's Malaysia for you!
We enjoyed it very much!!!
