Agama Islam and Hinduism

During the "Religious Emphasis" Week, the Agama boys had their sessions at the terrace.  Here Ustaz is bringing them to Dewan Kuliah or Lecture Theatre.

Then I went to seek out the Hindus who had their talk at the T Mori Block.

Finally, I went back to the Wesley Church again as it had a good air conditioning system.

Tomorrow I will sit in at the Buddhist talk.  Being neither a Christian nor a Buddhist, I have the choice of either going to Wesley Church or the hall for the Buddhism exposure.
Don't you just love the stained glass louvred windows? It reminded me of my girlhood days at the chapel in Convent Batu Pahat. To a little girl like me back then it was the next best thing to being at a cathedral : the strains of the organ (enhanced by the acoustics of the church), the huge crucifix that had a figure of Christ and the sight of nuns in their habits left an indelible impression on me. On Fridays a priest actually came to perform Mass with altar boys in attendance (dressed in robes and swinging pots of incense)

Religious Emphasis Week

In the week leading up to the Good Friday holiday, we have "religious emphasis week" peculiar perhaps to MBS only.  Christian, Hindu, Buddhist and Islamic students all go to their respective venue for a talk by invited speakers for the first period, known weekly as "Chapel period", but for this week, it is held everyday.

Pn Gladys, the new English teacher walks to the church (Wesley)

The first time I came here was because of Miss Moey, she insisted all teachers should join students for the Chapel Period during Religious Week.  Before that (during the previous headmaster's time) we had free preiods every day!!

I remembered I was in awe of the boy (quite a naughty one) conducting and leading the congregation with his singing, accompanied by another boy strumming the guitar! That was 4 or 5 years ago.
I am quite taken aback at boys who are so unruly in class sitting obediently at the pews!
Not since my Convent days in Batu Pahat had I seen a period devoted to worshipping.  Quite fantastic that MBS has its own resident church for devotion.
I popped into the hall where the Buddhist talk was held.  A movie, 2012 was in progress.

The other pictures failed to upload: the Hindu and Islam students....tomorrow I'll try again!

every blade of grass, every bead of sweat

HD (High Definition) Astro arrived at my house.

Down came the old dish
Up went the new parabola
Hardworking boy
cool new black decoder
Every bead of sweat?

every blade of grass?
I guess HD is for people who like to watch ball games, but it beats me why they want to see every blade of grass on the football pitch and every bead of sweat on the player' brow and why they need HD to see that.

Add More Years to Your Life and More Life to Your Years

Thought that this talk will benefit me so dutifully I trotted off to the Gardens Cocoon section to attend this talk and maybe learn how to add more years to my life (I already have enough life in my years).

Turned out to be quite insightful as the doctor, Dr Mohammad was witty, funny and truthful.  Ageing is unavoidable and the toxins in our air, water and food are not helping us any.  Fret not, there is a place called
Heath Pathway at the Gardens where you can go for all your Age-related needs.

One of the doctors from Health Pathway giving a talk on ageing

She manages Health Pathway with her sisters and brother who are doctors too (her mum said at my table and divulged this info to me-proud mum!

hmmmmnn-not a bad high tea!

Nurses from Health Pathway

I particularly liked this sexy statuette

with her garland of those flowers I always see sold by the roadside whenever there is an Indian festival

Doc's mum keep on asking me to help myself to the sandwiches which she says are from their restaurant.  Not only do they have their own clinics, and this anti ageing place called Health Pathway, they also have a restaurant

Then I was brought upstairs to Health Pathway for a conducted tour

the waiting room

tastefully decorated waiting room...but I did not go inside....
doorgifts was this face towel and some phamplets

when I am old, rickety and losing my hair, my teeth, my looks, my everything, I will need the services of Health Pathway. I am keeping Dr Jeswinder's businesscard.
