9888 Midah Dinner for Uncle S 21 May 2016

It's May again and time for preliminary meeting before the AGM so as usual, we had Uncle S as a house guest and he gave the extended family a lovely dinner at 9888 Restaurant Taman Midah.

The extended family's girls (Kheng and Siew) brought two lovely cakes from Padi Cake House, the above being a unique cake with green "wings" mandarin orange and realistic looking wooden spoon.

The other cake with choc shavings and cherries

This restaurant has 3 floors and was very crowded that Saturday night  maybe because it was also Wesak Day

My two favourite girls, Andrea and Amelie, so well behaved and so pretty!
These are some of the food we had:
 signature tofu
lettuce for wrapping the stuff below:

eggs with minced meat and sharks fin

what my lo kong (husband) wrapped for me hehe
claypot wai san and assorted mushrooms
 smoked chicken

crispy golden salted egg yolk pumpkin

BBQ pork neck
assam fish in lotus leaf

And I have to end this post with a
touching tableau of brotherly and sisterly care and concern.

River View Restaurant Kuala Selangor

Before our boat ride to see the fireflies, we had a yummilicious dinner at River View Seafood Restaurant.
This is not to be confused with another RiverView restaurant in Kuala Lumpur:

There were many restaurants such as this jetty one but somehow we chose Riverview because of this?:----
The gigantic crab replica at the front of the shop?

If we had been here earlier, we could have gone for "Eagle Feeding" and  visit the "100 year old fishing village" but nevermind, at least we were going for the "Fireflies" after dinner.

 100 year old fishing village
This is the menu, with a gigantic picture of cooked crabs and a plate of mantou.
What we ordered:Mixed vegetables with salted egg

 mantou of chinese bread
 crabs with salted egg gravy

 Butter prawns

 La la soup

 salted egg yolk crabs

 crsipy baby octopus

 golden aroma crab

or chien omelette: we did not like this as we are used to the wet, slimy and gooey starch version
 Tripod photo with timer.

It was still early, and we waited for the sun to set to take another picture...later.

so nice having dinner at the jetty with the sunset as a backdrop!
As we were eating, we say boat loads of passengers being ferried to Jetty restaurant for dinner. It must have been part of a Firefly tour with dinner provided. Nice!!!

Restoran 8 Road (新世界8路海鲜) @ Bandar Puchong Jaya for Dad's Birthday

Restoran 8 Road

Son suggested going to this restaurant because he says that he always see a long queue outside the place whenever he passes by it....so...if your restaurant has a queue outside...that is a good criteria for others to come and try!!!!
"Restoran 8 Road (新世界8路海鲜) @ Bandar Puchong Jaya"  that is the name of the joint!!!
chairs are provided for people queuing outside!!!
more people are coming to the restaurant!!
(this is just as we were leaving the place)
(this is when we arrived)
we started out at 6 and people are already eating outside the restaurant
inside: just as packed, luckily we had a phone-in reservation so we did not have to q outside.
tiny lanterns festooned on the ceiling
Pictures of dishes pasted on the wall
