Tamarind Springs

Last Sunday, we chose Tamarind Springs in Ampang as our next gastronomical adventurous outing. It is located behind Kelab Darul Ehsan, past some really posh houses in Taman TAR

This is the carpark (taken much later when it was dark)
We reached there when there was still light, purportedly to take pictures of the scenery at Tamarind.
Ivan surveys the motorbike desginated parking area
at the gate to the restaurant....looks quaint, with no sign advertising it and one could easily miss  it as it does not face the front of the main road
lots of Bali water feature, Bali walls and stone pebbled paths
ha ha ha....very long and winding road!!!
so? take more photos lor.....to take in the scenery and work up an appetite
 like a courting couple!!
 oh no!! Very Old couple!!!
No, we are not in Bali, we are in Kuala Lumpur
Serene looking stone sculpture with a peacefully beautiful countenance
Il Tempio, the temple of fine Italian food and where Irene had  her birthday bash (private) http://irenethechaoticcook.blogspot.com/
there is also the Mandi mandi (Malay Thai food) and the Zen Room
tropical rain forests in the midst of KL
funny rickety steps leading to the Mandi Mandi
I suppose you can mandi here (bathe or swim)
No 1 dressed appropriately in sarong dress and No 3 dressed in little girly smock, in tune with the surroundings
lovely architecture all around, takes Maple Loo, the owner to have the vision to envisage this
authentic jungle trek and steps, brings out the animal in you
No 2 wants all the pictures of himself for his profile  pics
this reminds me of the terrace padi fields of Bali and Philippines
 more steps to climb!!!
Romantic "couple" table in the middle of nowhere!
Guess what? We had to climb here and there so much, it was getting dark!!
we are now at Tamarind Springs kitchen...all tables are fully booked and we have to wait for a smokers' table area!
No 1 takes the chance to pose for more pictures!!!!
kitchen is huge! The whole place is HUGE!!!
Tamarind Springs has won many awards and accolades!!!
A cool bar where you can light incense aside from the cocktails
 Angkor Wat inspired bar
No 2 thinks he looks the picture of coolness and sophistication (chiselled looks, rippling abs, taut pecs...etc)
at last our table is set and we are ready to order
Outdoor dining is just as well.....non-smoking area has cushioned and draped seats though
the menu...we were so innocent, we ordered a dish each thinking it was the main course
 free hors d oerves
while waiting for our order, Papa went round playing with his camera
 inner courtyard dining area
lovely stand chandelier lamps with candle lights
view from below our verandah seat
wooden balustrades and the play of bamboo and canes as decor
even the ladies' had resort style trappings

ginger fried rice!!! (RM18) and prawn fried rice (RM18)..plain rice costs RM5 each!
Lamb cutlets with Tamarind sauce (RM36)
 Salmon Lemon Sauce (RM48)
 chicken lemongrass (RM30)
 fish amok (RM36)
Roasted Garlic Duck (RM32) and BBQ Beef with Dried Red Chili (RM40)
Tamarind serves IndoChine cuisine
Laotian, Cambodian, Myanmar and Vietnamese dishes....Mandi Mandi serves Malay Thai and Il Tempio Italian.
Mineral water was 6 ringgit each before we stopped them and was served Amuse Bouche (water I think) which was free.  Bill came to RM327.75.
 another long stroll back!!!!
so full we now look preggers
the same entrance, now at night!  Looks utterly romantic and poetic!

Bye!!!!!!! Any reccomendation for the next Sunday's gourmet delight???????????
