Spaghetti Dinner, Mid Autumn Festival 28 September 2009

We were invited for a spaghetti dinner at Bangsar and it being Mid Autumn Festival, I brought my stash of lantern collection.

Ha, ha! Can you imagine this? We started off with two lanterns (a butterfly and a dragon for Ken,) and papa made two more: an aeroplane and a fish. I kept the butterfly and dragon! Then, every year I buy two new ones and keep them all (too beautiful to throw...can sell on e- bay or not?)

A clearer picture of the dragon lantern. Below, Ken who can hardly walk yet ! admiring his lantern.

Here, he gamely poses with his very first lantern, I am such a hoarder!!!! It must be about 20 years old!! Really!

Me and my nephew with only one quarter (only 1/4!!!) of the lanterns that I took out!!! They don't make them like they used to!!!

Sue took time off her busy schedule to join us for dinner, (studying for Accounting exam) and El took the trouble to come too. Papa dropped by after work.

Dessert: mock pomegranate in suntan milk....this one is cold dessert (mock, because the bits of pomegranate inside were actually water chestnuts coated in starch) very ingenious of Aunti Siok Yin.....below: agar-agar.

Tai Kor (not the Secret Society type lah but oldest brother) and Sa Koh (not in picture) also joined us.
Hot dessert was longan in sweet syrup.

Auntie SY with Tuti and Khoon, she is such a gracious hostess and a great cook.
These two, being children of papa's niece, have to call Jenn "Auntie Jenn Jenn" even though they are both older than her!!! LOL

Roast chicken for Kong Kong in case he doesn't care for spaghetti or lasagne

Appetiser: Hot Pumpkin soup

Garden Fresh Salad with french dressing

and here the maid is bringing out shepherd's pies

Spaghetti with meatballs and chicken ham

Chicken pot pies

Lasagne
Paper Lanterns lighted with electric bulbs lend a festive air

Food served invitingly on the patio

The whole family came out in full force with Grandfather!

Cucu and cicit (great grandchildren) and greatgrandfather!!!
Spaghetti, lasagne, chicken pot pies and shepherd's pies for lantern festival dinner? That's Malaysia for you!
We enjoyed it very much!!!
