From Guangzhou to Shantou to meet Relatives.

After 2 days in Guangzhou we left by coach to Swatow or Shantou to meet the relatives, the main aim of our trip to China.

5 hours in the bus.
Motor cycles!!! On reaching Swatow, this is the first thing we see!  Motorcycles are banned in Guangzhou!
 Scary traffic!
But wait till you see when the lights turn green! All sorts of traffic in all directions!!!
And this is without pedestrians crossing the streets any old how!

 Mini skirt on motor bike!
They have a designated motor cycle lane, but you can see a motor bike going onto the car lane!
Before the bus stopped, our relatives swarmed upon us!! They have been waiting for us!!!
The looks on these faces range from surprise to shock to happiness!
Welcoming committee from China for the exiled Chinese.
Liang Seng is my children's grandmother's nephew, her brother's eldest (of 5 sons)
Our hotel in Swatow.  Jenn wants back her Phoenix Hotel in Guangzhou. So did Auntie Guek!
The China contingent: Old Uncle, Grand Auntie, Uncle Siang, Xiao Ying, Xiao Yen, Chuen Chuen, Yen Ling.
Cousin Yen Yen, her mum Chuen Chuen, and  Fourth Aunt all the way from Chao Yang with Grand Aunt.
Fourth Aunt, Chew Yen Ling is young (40) and leather-clad!
She wants me to stay overnight at her place and take me shopping to revamp my wardrobe!(thigh high boots, tight fitting leather jackets) because I am dressed in my comfy baggy Tshirt and cropped pedalpushers with slippers for the 5-hour bus ride!
Hotel corridor was full of us relatives!
Country bumpkin Malaysian cousins meet modern and advanced cousins from cosmopolitan Shantou. In subsequent posts you can see how big and up-to-date Shantou is compared to KL which pales in comparison. KL is nothing but a kampung!
