2011 Perseid Meteor Shower Tonight

Best time to watch the skies from 2am until dawn

Astronomers say tonight may be the best time to view the Perseid meteor shower, the peak will be on saturday night and coincides with a full moon, meaning that night’s dazzling display of tiny streaks of light shooting across the sky.

Time to time as fast as 60 to 120 meteor strakes per hour, perfect excuse to get out of town and city lights.

The Perseid meteor shower is sparked every August when the Earth passes through a stream of space debris left by comet Swift-Tuttle.
