In an article in Sunday Star there was a picture on old English books that the writer used when he was young:
I remember the "LOOK and LEARN" and "THE OXFORD ENGLISH COURSE FOR MALAYA" ....because I started with zero knowledge of English as I grew up in a non-speaking English background on the streets of Jalan Mohd Akil! (No, lah I was not a street kid, but I was a shop-house kid).
DO NOT LOOK DOWN ON THESE BOOKS!!! We picked up all the grammar and rudiments of the language that equipped us with the skill that some of you young people do not have!
