Chao Yang 朝陽 Attractions: Fort City, Kai Yuan Temple and Memorial Temple of Han Yu

Chaoyang District, Beijing - Wikipedia ..Chaoyang District (simplified Chinese: 朝阳区; traditional Chinese: 朝陽區; pinyin: Cháoyáng Qū; lit. "facing the sun") is a district of Beijing, China. ... In Chao yang, the ancestral village, (now a city) we had a whirlwind tour of 3 attractions. While driving along Chao Yang, I saw many students riding bicycles, they are wearing the same type of track suits that the two sons of Fourth Aunt was wearing at the dinner that night.
This is the ancient Fort City
Inside the Fort city is a temple and recreated streets catered to tourists
To enter the city, we have to go through this tunnel

An ancient well that is preserved from the refurbished roads

Next. we went to this centuries-old temple (all the places in China are very old)
Kai Yuan Temple

the temple may be 100s of years old, but the monk is a man of the times

then, we visited this ancient pavillioned heritage site(Song Dynasty, 999AD)

Opposite the ancient site are some souvenir shops and tea house
Aunties seriously shopping for wooden cake moulds

all sorts of pickles offered too
we did not mind the aunties taking ages to choose their moulds
because the weather was absolutely cold and refreshing
with free selection of pickled sweets for you to try
and endless tea
on our way back to Shantou,(or Swatow) 汕頭 we met the madness of motorcycles, bicycles and pedestrians again!
Aunti Poh is so glad to reach Happy Hotel in Shantou(汕頭)!!!!

I am taking forever to finish this China blog, and there are lots more stories to tell! (you notice that I am taking you on a whirl wind!....I am beginning to feel the toll! hope you are still with me!)
