Churros at Chapel Street, Melbourne

After our Korean lunch, the kids had their Churros fix

we ordered the "Churros for 2 " set which is 6 churros and 2 dips for $14.95 (Dunking for Two)
After the boy took the order he went to prepare it, and the three younger kids went to watch him make them
all churros are freshly made on the spot
It was small Ah E's birthday and she could have received a free churros for two, but you had to like it on Facebook or pre join first and be given a voucher to redeem the free stuff!
Wow! Piping hot churros, crunchy and munchy with 2 choc dips
Chocolate is the Beating Heart of San Churro...whatever that means!
Churros are best eaten with company
 dark and light chocolate dips
6 churros for 4 kids is not enough!
It was gone in a jiffy!

The original "It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all" has been San Churro-ed
Laeti had an encounter with Mr Deer
Jenn is nonchalant whether you are deer headed or bull headed, so long as you have a head.

Below is a recipe for Churros courtesy of Martha Stewart.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon coarse salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 large eggs
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • Confectioners' sugar, for dusting
  • Chocolate Dipping Sauce for Churros Chocolate Dipping Sauce for Churros, optional

Directions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup water, butter, sugar, and salt; bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to low, and sift in flour, stirring for 1 minute.
  2. Transfer flour mixture to bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment. On low speed, add eggs, 1 at a time, beating until incorporated after each addition; spoon mixture into a pastry bag fitted with a large open-star tip.
  3. Heat 4 to 5 inches oil in a large Dutch-oven until it registers 325 degrees.on a deep-fry thermometer. Holding pastry bag a few inches above the oil, squeeze out batter, snipping off 4-inch lengths with a knife or kitchen shears. Fry, flipping once, until deep golden brown all over, about 4 minutes. Using a slotted spoon, transfer churros to a paper towel-lined baking sheet to drain.
  4. Roll churros in confectioners' sugar. Serve immediately with Chocolate Dipping Sauce.
