Horrendous English from a Malaysian oh Bung Moktar

Horrendous English coming from a politician.....atrocious spelling, lousy grammar, imcomprehensible and non existent words!!!!
what is "jude"????
or "that you perpection"?????
bad spelling in every sentence: LADYS...SORROUNDING...TOTTALY......
I normally do not correct or comment on other people's English and spelling on social media but this one I BEH TAHAN LIAO!!!!!

From Wong Chun Wai: On the Beat
Education is for all, it’s time we think of the bigger picture affecting all children.
MY colleague received a press statement sent by a very high-ranking official of a government department recently. It was personally written in English by the official and sent by WhatsApp to ensure it was speedily delivered.
The only snag was that his command of the language was so horrendous that my colleague had to suggest to him, politely, that he might want to stick to Bahasa Malaysia to ensure accurate reporting on our part. He got the message. A new version was eventually sent.
Then, there are also the vice-chancellors of a few public universities who face the same language problem despite having spent much time in overseas universities to pursue their post-graduate studies.
We have also met Malaysian diplomats who cannot carry out a proper conversation in flawless English and we know some of them even shy away from social functions, which is a shame as this where they can pick up nuggets of information for their intelligence reports.
A few generations, yes, a few generations, are paying the price – unable to speak and write in proper English – because of our education system.
At best, they may have some semblance of communication English, but without the proper foundations in grammar, many are unable to even string a sentence together correctly.
Because English is just a subject, there is hardly any opportunity to use and practise the language on a regular and extensive basis within the school system.
That’s how low we have sunk. Forget about the occasional use of some Latin words to make the language more refined, if not, more classy. Getting through the basics is tough enough.
It is no surprise, therefore, that they really struggle when they reach tertiary level where much of the information is in English.
And even upon graduation, many employers are reluctant to hire them when they cannot function properly in an environment where the working language is English.
Controversial MP Datuk Bung Mokhtar became the butt of every joke on social media when he introduced a hashtag #earthquack for his postings on the earthquake situation in his home state.
Well, we also can see that some of our Chinese politicians, from both sides of the political divide, struggle with English, judging by some of the postings they make on Facebook.
Every now and then, we have reports about bad English in an English examination paper. We have more or less gotten used to the fact that the English in many of our official websites are littered with mistakes.
It doesn’t seem to bother our politicians and decision makers one bit, as they will simply shrug off calls to allow English as a medium of instruction in our education system.
Why should they be worried as many of them are able to send off their children to boarding schools overseas at a young age? After all, the only ones that would bear the consequences would be the students in the rural areas.
The Ruler of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar, recently suggested that English be made a medium of instruction – he didn’t say make English THE medium of instruction.
The reality is that English, as a medium of instruction, is already available but it is restricted only to private and international schools, mostly in urban areas.
And despite the high fees charged, more urban parents are opting to send their children to such schools because they simply want their children to be proficient in this international language.
The urban-rural divide is accentuated because while children in the rural areas are sometimes teased for using English, it is perfectly normal for English to be used at home in middle-class Malaysia.
And with greater exposure to the language, the urban children do have an edge over those in the rural areas.
But it doesn’t have to be this way. As his Royal Highness the Sultan of Johor said, these politicians are using nationalism and race to champion communal rights and the Malay language at the expense of the English language.
They are doing so to protect their interests and political positions. Unfortunately, many seem to buy into their agendas.
We must also be clear that the lack of proficiency in English cuts across all races.
Many Chinese parents send their children to Chinese schools at the primary level because they want their children to be able to speak and write basic Chinese as they eye the growing economic power of China.
Many shy away from the national schools because there is a strong perception that these schools have turned more religious in character with a single race dominant in the overall attendance.
The national schools that many of us from my generation and earlier grew up in, where English was the medium of instruction, were different as all races were well represented.
But in our current situation, many Chinese parents also find that sending their children to the Chinese primary schools does not help their children have a good command of English either.
The English proficiency of the majority of Chinese teenagers, because of their background in Chinese schools, is just as bad as their counterparts in the rural schools.
They live in the Chinese world, watching Taiwanese and Hong Kong movies, with little interest in the real world.
Their worldview is shaped pretty one-dimensionally and because of the environment they grew up in, they are unlikely to have real friends from those of other races.
Many of us in our 50s have been lucky – we were probably the last batch of the English-medium schools where we sat for the Malaysia Certificate of Education (MCE) and the Higher School Certificate (HSC) examinations.
The English-medium schools were neutral grounds as students of all races attended such schools and the best friendships were forged there.
We had real friends from all races because we were growing up together for at least 10 years in the schools. It was not functional friendship at work, but real bonding as we studied and played together.
I feel really sorry for many Malaysian kids who do not have friends outside their own race as they are not be able to shape their thinking in a more open way.
So, when a hot issue comes up in the country, especially those involving race and religion, they are not able to see things from another perspective.
Like many, I also worry about the future of Malaysia and our children, as the performance of our schools continues to falter. Beyond our concerns over language skills, we should be even more worried about the quality of our education.
Our ranking in Science and Mathematics is already reportedly low, although our politicians question its accuracy. But the reality is that many of us are no longer surprised by such trends.
Our politicians will continue to tell us that all is well and fine in our schools, and that we have little influence to change anything. Some of us may believe that to be so.
But if we really care for the country, we should not be afraid to propose radical changes for the sake of our future generations.
Education is for all and it is totally selfish if we only think of our own interests while the majority are stuck in a system which does not empower them to reach for the stars.

Girl found abandoned and starved in Penang

This may be old news but I found it in my "Draft" so I publish it...

BUTTERWORTH, Jan 17 — She was left all alone in the dark without food and water. Her father and his new family lived in a flat just across the unit she was in. They had food and clothes.
The seven-year-old girl was rescued on Thursday night when police decided to inspect the unit after questioning her 34-year-old father, who was uncooperative.

“All the other children had food and clothes,” said North Seberang Prai district police chief ACP Abdul Rahman Ibrahim yesterday.
“She asked for food and to be carried.”
Abdul Rahman said the door to the unit was unlocked.
“The team saw her standing in the dark when they opened the door. There was no electricity or water in the flat.”
Police found the Year One pupil was the only child from her father's first marriage to an Indonesian woman, who left shortly after giving birth to her.
He then married a local woman. They have five children with another one on the way.
The authorities went to the flat in Sungai Dua, Tasek Gelugor, at about 7.15pm after her teacher lodged a police report at about 3.30pm as she had not attended school since Monday.
“The teacher suspected something was amiss and her father had collected the RM100 aid meant for pupils on Monday.”
Police believe she had not eaten in days and her clothes were dirty.
“We gave her some soy milk to ease her hunger and bought her some rice before sending her to the Seberang Jaya Hospital for observation.
“She was weak when police found her. We do not know exactly how many days she has not eaten. We are waiting for the medical report on her health status.”
He said the girl was in stable condition and recovering.
“She is calm and quiet. Even when we found her, she wasn't crying.”
The father, a part-time labourer, has been detained.

Cop rescues starving Penang girl

BUTTERWORTH — An abandoned seven-year-old girl, weighing just over 7kg, remains traumatised and weak after being rescued from a flat in Tasek Gelugor, Penang on Thursday (Jan 14), said Malaysian police.
She had been left all alone in the dark without food and water, while her father and his new family lived in a flat just across the unit she was in.
The seven-year-old girl was rescued on Thursday nightafter her teacher lodged a police report earlier in the day. The child had not attended school since Monday, but her father had collected the RM100 (S$37.30) aid meant for pupils on the same day. The teacher then suspected something amiss.
Police decided to inspect the unit after questioning her 34-year-old father, who was uncooperative. “All the other children had food and clothes,” said North Seberang Prai district police chief Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Abdul Rahman Ibrahim on Friday (Jan 16). “She asked for food and to be carried.” He added: “The team saw her standing in the dark when they opened the door. There was no electricity or water in the flat."
ACP Abdul Rahman Ibrahim updated yesterday that she had little to eat over the past two weeks. “She is seven-years old and she is not supposed to weigh that low,” he said.
ACP Abdul Rahman said the girl was receiving treatment at the Seberang Jaya Hospital and was unable to eat solid food. “A specialist is attending to her and the investigating officer (Inspector Hasmah Mustappa Ramdzan) who found her, is staying by her side at the hospital,” he said. “She is on a soft diet.”
He said the girl needed special attention to overcome her trauma. “She needs a lot of love and care, and she also needs to be pampered,” he said, adding that “(Inspector) Hasmah said she was disheartened when she saw the girl’s condition. She was unable to control her emotions when she saw the girl.”
ACP Abdul Rahman said the police had not recorded the victim’s full statement and they were waiting for the medical report. The girl will be handed over to the Welfare Department when she gets discharged from the hospital.
ACP Abdul Rahman said the girl’s father, a petrol station pump attendant, will be remanded until tomorrow. The police have not been able to trace the victim’s mother, an Indonesian, whom they believed had returned to her country of origin.
While neighbours claimed the girl’s stepmother told them she had kept the girl indoors and starved her as the girl was “possessed by evil spirits”, the police are uncertain whether the woman, in her 30s, was involved as investigations are ongoing. The police will record a statement from the stepmother and other people, including the victim’s neighbours.
Neighbours also said the seven-year-old girl was not allowed to play with other children. “I was told by her brothers and sisters that she was not allowed to go out of the house,” said 16-year-old Azzat Nordin,. The girl’s 5 other siblings were allowed to mix with other children.
Azzat said he found that the girl had to be locked up in the flat where the family used to live until they moved out to another nearby unit. “I was told that there was no electricity in the unit and she was kept in the dark,” he said, adding that the girl often kept to herself and did not make much noise despite being locked up.
Neighbour Aishah Mazita said she learnt that the electricity and water supply to the flat had been disconnected, therefore, the girl’s family rented another unit opposite the place they were staying.
Security guard Ahmad Suhaimi Abdullah said he used to see the girl’s father around the flats’ vicinity and he seemed friendly.
“We just nodded to each other but did not talk much,” he said. “I cannot believe that he can do such a cruel thing to his own daughter.” THE MALAY MAIL ONLINE

Malaysia never fails to hog world headlines.....Malaysian diplomat sexual assault disgrace!

Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman (pic) confirms that the diplomat involved in a sexual assault case in New Zealand is a Malaysian. ― File pic
Anifah AmanKUALA LUMPUR, July 1 ― The diplomat who is allegedly involved in a sexual assault case in
New Zealand is a Malaysian, Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman confirmed,
adding that the envoy has been recalled home.
The minister refuted claims Wisma Putra is “protecting” the man from sex charges,
saying he has asked the police in New Zealand to continue their investigations,
 The Star daily reported today.
“Just because he is a diplomat does not mean he gets off scot-free.
“Diplomatic immunity is not about having the licence to commit the crime,” Anifah was quoted saying.
When asked why the diplomat was asked to return to Malaysia, Anifah pointed to a possible
misinterpretation of an email from New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade to Wisma Putra
But he said Malaysia would only send the diplomat back to New Zealand if there is assurance of
his safety and a fair trial.
According to New Zealand police, the diplomat said to be in his 30s was arrested after
he allegedly followed a woman aged 21 to her house on May 9 and attacked her.
He was then charged with assault with intent to rape and burglary, but the case had to be
dropped after he was recalled home a day after he was charged, news wire AFP reported.
New Zealand had asked for the diplomatic immunity of the man to be waived so that he could face
trial there, but the request was refused by Malaysia.
Prime Minister John Key said it was New Zealand’s “strong preference” for the man to face trial there,
but said this was not possible after his home country invoked diplomatic immunity
“Though I would make the point that it’s our expectation he will be held to account in his home country,”
he was quoted saying by the Australian Associated Press yesterday.

Handicapped human in deplorable Condition

SEREMBAN, June 22 — He was covered in filth and wore only a tattered t-shirt. He wore no pants. Unable to walk, the emaciated teenager stared vacantly at the Immigration Department officers as they entered the room strewn with polystyrene boxes.

The 15-year-old, who reportedly suffers from cerebral palsy, had apparently been neglected for over a year with his mother claiming that she was unable to find a nanny to look after him.

She lives in another house nearby with her second husband and children from that marriage, initial investigations revealed.
The officers chanced upon the teenager early yesterday morning when they conducted a raid to nab illegal immigrants at the low-cost flats in Taman Semarak, Nilai.
“When we entered the unit we expected that it was occupied by illegal immigrants but then we found the boy,” said Negri Sembilan Immigration director Faizal Fazri Othman.
“He was covered in faeces and urine. We believe his condition is due to abuse and neglect.”
The horrified officers immediately called for medical help and the teenager, who was just skin and bones, was rushed to the Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital in Seremban for treatment.
Faizal said the boy’s mother, believed to be from Sabah, worked for a catering company, was detained shortly after they discovered him.
The boy’s name has been released but Malay Mail is withholding it to protect him.
In a video that was made available to the press, the teenager could be seen
moving by pushing himself with his arms and occasionally moaning.
The officers were heard expressing shock and later coaxing him to be calm before he was carried away on a stretcher.

Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim said she had instructed the relevant departments to investigate the matter.
“I have also instructed immediate help and care for the teen that includes him being placed under the Welfare Department’s care,” she said in a statement.
“The ministry has already sent an officer to look after the teen currently being warded at the hospital and investigate the site where he was found at to get a clearer picture of the situation.”
She said his parents were divorced and his father was estranged from the family.
“The mother also denies neglecting the teen. We are investigating whether the teen was really neglected,” said Rohani.
A hospital staff said she was shocked when she saw the boy.
“He looked like he had not eaten in a long time. He was very weak,” said the nurse.
“It was really heart-wrenching for the nurses on duty. We have not seen a special needs child in such bad condition. His weight was surely not that of a 15-year-old.”
State Welfare, Women and Family Development exco Datuk Norhayati Omar said doctors informed her that the teenager’s condition was stable.
“They have cleaned him and cut his hair. They will conduct several tests on him.”
Norhayati said the doctors believed that he had been ill and could be in better condition if proper treatment was given six months ago.
“Doctors said they found no sign of abuse but his health has been clearly neglected by his parents.”

Chilling Video of girl being led away by man before being found decapitated

Eat your dumplings first and enjoy it before you see this post.

A few nights ago before I went to sleep I logged on to FB and saw some sickening news on NST.....
"girl found dead in Gombak River with head beside her"

The next few days pictures of her, her killer, her mother, and her video dominated the news and the Facebook.

Netizens disturbed by video posted showing girl trying to run away from her abductor before being led away by him

(The man had abducted Siti Soffea Emelda, who was two-and-a-half years old, from the Kota Raya shopping mall in the city on Thursday.....NST)

“The suspect had a record for several offences, including drug-related offences,” said a source. “He was released from Kajang prison just a few months ago.” -

The toddler was raised solely by her mother, Siti Salmy Suib.
Siti Salmy, 32, who police say is homeless and unemployed, had gone to the shopping complex on Thursday to hang out with her friends.
“At about 8pm, she went to a toilet and left Siti Soffea with four of her friends When she returned five minutes later, Siti Soffea was no longer with them,” -
Makes you wonder what went wrong with Malaysia....there are able bodied healthy jobless people roaming the streets homeless, and bringing up children to boot.  And there are young jobless people just released from jail who prey on little children, cut of their heads and drink their blood.  Luckily he died, and is not at large, still lurking around looking for the next victim.
Meanwhile there are other disturbing sensational news like the teen who was raped by more than 30 men, many of them related, like a father and his 2 sons.
