Buka Puasa at Dorsett Putrajaya

I gathered my Convent Peel Road colleagues for a buka puasa makan at Dorsett Putrajaya, (7 June 2017) as my firend's husband is the MD there, so why not!! In fact he gave us good deals!!

so join me as I bring you on our excellent ride at Dorsett! Btw, I love my mini pink caftan that I had just bought from Aileen's (my new KLSC co-graduate) friend at Bangsar Shopping Centre and my cute cross-body pink Victoria Secret bag.
Dining at this hotel gives you breathtaking sunset views of the open car park (free) and the spectacular sight of  the sun's last rays on the horizon of the city, as you help yourself to the asam pedas fish head and chicken curry.

Leaving Bukit Jalil at 5.45 and reaching Putrajaya at 6.30 (not exact time) I thought I was early, but so was Angie, Chen and her daughter!
Chen and her princess had time to take photos at the yellow princess chairs that I see a lot on Instagram!
We wasted no time in taking wefies at the photowall
the banner, after paying for our tickets. (buffet tickets lah, at half price)

The rest of our group has arrived and Paulsen greeted us personally, he was the one who gave us all "senior citizen" rates because some of us are still young, lol!!!
It's not time for breaking fast yet, so we inspected the food.
Thumbs up from Lydia!
The other side of the balcony where the buffect spread extended to!

so much food!!! we had walked the whole length and breadth of the place!
The fruit section at the corridor.

The best corridor/balcony corner had baskets of durians and a durian tree!

Grabbing durians and forcing the busy chefs to take our photos, we couldn't wait to eat durains!
Some fruits were already open, so I swiped a plateful and stuffed my face with it!

At the other side of the durian stalls was the shell-out bbq section and a deer on the pit.

Unlike other hotels that offer the usual lamb, Dorsett Putrajaya had a whole deer.
   Other food: kway teow goreng

lemang in all its varieties

We are all ready to eat!
We are not going to wait for the designated breaking fast time.

We started with durians again!
wow!!! digging in!  The first of our many plates of durian!
Later, there was to be a long queue for durians!
We have finished!!! Look at our shiny faces, happy satisfied look, as we take a pic at the lift as there was a photo booth with props!
Verdict for buka puasa juadah here: widest array of both local and foreign ( Japanese sushi, Italian pizzas, pastas etc) food, instore chef, sheer allocation of space (corridor, baclony, rooms) for display of food, and yes, the roast deer and the durians was reason enough for the trip there!

Buka Puasa with SMK Permaisuri Teachers

My last 3 years before I retired was spent in "Queen" School where I taught Form 6.
These are some of the Form 6 teachers I hung out with everyday. Now Pn Saadiah (in front) and Pn Aslinin (in grey check) are transfering to another of my ex-school, MBS, so I made it a point to join their "majlis buka puasa ".  Also this will be the last year form 6 will be taught here as there will be no more intake next year....all Form sixes would be moved to special selected schools.

I took this picture from Azmy (he is in batik, he is not a form 6 teacher but a chairman of staff club)
Broke my selfie stick so this is the best selfie I could manage.  Moreover, it was dark and lighting was bad.
Breaking of fast was held at the canteen, where I had spent all my breakfast and lunch for 3 years...hehe till I got fat!!!
Buffet table for the students, Sharifah came late so she is the only one getting food.

And  I really do miss this canteen with its fab food and fab people and fat me.....
Food was chicken rice prepared by Mak Cik Canteen...Azmy (cute guy in front) called it "legend nasi ayam"
legendary chicken rice!
One day a week was allocated to this chicken rice, I forgot which day.
other food served were an assortment of kueh mueh
 Samosa
And dates for breaking fast

A group picture with En Asri, his wife and daughter, Azmy Yazid, Sharifah, Saadiah and Alia. It was time for them to go for their prayers.

These are 3 of my best best best colleagues (form 6) they are the ones who bought the gold pendant for me as my retirement present, headed by Saadiah (behind me)
The students stayed behind to barbecue some meat.

With Aein, and the other young Form 6 teacher.
yummy bbq sausages, lamb, beef and chicken!
 which they served to us
So glad I was able to share breaking fast with my beloved ex-colleagues...hope I can join them again for some other makan!

Buka Puasa with Iwakl at Rebung Chef Ismail Restoran

This is Chef Ismail.  He is at the verandah of his restaurant posing by the yellow table and advertising his place.

I joined the Iwakl for this event on 15th June 2016 and driving there was quite easy except before  I reached Lake Club and Lake Garden the  traffic at Jalan Hishamuddin was at quite a standstill.

The restaurant on the fifth floor was quite huge, and I am at the terrace or verandah where there were more food and even tables.  Lily took this for me.

Waiting for the gong to sound the break of puasa so we cold start to eat. Of course, we, the non-Muslims did not fast hehe.
Some of the ladies and men!
We could eat now, and well, I took too much food!

Let me show you the buffet table laden with food...this is inside the hall
lots of local fare (touted as authentic kampung food)

Everywhere there were these display rack of dishes which we used to use!!! I was quite tickled pink!
See? the kangkong dishes we serve dinner in, in Taman Midah house.  When it gets chipped or broken and the number diminishes, I go to Batu Pahat to get fresh supplies!  But here it is on show like antiques!!!

Note too, the tiffin and food carriers that Kong Kong uses too!
My favourite, siput masak lemak, it may  taste like nothing but I love sucking out the curly wurly stuff and licking the lemak curry, I am that perverted.

Ferns or pucuk paku manis in lemak curry.

Selfie with Lily and Neeta, except that my selfie stick broke during the Yogyakarta trip due to overuse so I can't get a decent picture.
These pictures are by Shanti, the beautiful Indon girl in fuschia robe and the one in white gown is the chef himself.

Chef Ismail carrying LV boston bag and in white long gown, came out to mingle and take photos with guests, but I had left because I had a late night movie date (Me before You) with my lo kong.
So, I took a pic with his standee!
Go experience his Ramadhan Buffet: address, phone and location is all in the poster above.
