添好運 Tim Ho Wan at Mid Valley: Reunion 29 June 2015

Our school mate from Perth is is town so we had a meet-up at Tim Ho Wan.....

Chiam, Yip (the Perth guy) Yeo and me,,,,,we are reitirees...so we could easily meet on a Monday!! hehe and there was no queue for Tim Ho Wan!!
I got this photo from Internet...you can see people queuing up
picture from (A Table For Two by Billy Law)

It is situated between Gardens and MidValley, at the Boulevard...quite a strategic site....wahh..so quiet and empty!

Tim Ho Wan, world famous Michelin-starred dim sum house – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Don’t expect a dim sum menu with extensive choices, THW only offers a humble list of 31 items
you can see from the menu that everything was a wee bit pricey...to me at least!

The first thing that arrived was baked buns, there were 6 of us and everything came in sets of three.
 Baked bun with BBQ pork
RM11.50

the 6 of us....the guy in shirt with red stripe is our good "Dr" Lee who initiated our reunion..meet also Sia, ex CIMB
out came the smart phones to document the food...Michelin-starred dim sum wor..

Vermicelli Roll with Pig's Liver RM11,50

 Carrot Cake
 Pan-fried Carrot Cake RM10.50!!!
so expensive! Carrots(radish, actually)  are so cheap and my late father-in-law could  make a whole pan at RM10.50, seriously! (with real radish)

Vermicelli Roll with Sweet and Sesame Sauce RM8.30

Bean Curd Skin Roll with Pork and Shrimp RM9.30

 Steamed Egg Cake RM8.30.....

ridiculously priced because my mother-in-law always buys these cheaply from the morning market and prays with it at the altar, after which she serves it for tea but no one eats it.....now it costs RM8.30 for a fraction of what my mil had.....

Look at us with our table laden with the MICHELIN STARRED and Michelin priced Dim sum hehe
 Pork Dumpling with Shrimp RM11.50

How times have changed..I used to buy these siew mai in Batu Pahat for 1.60 each

Pork Ribs with Black Bean Sauce RM9.30
my late father's favourite, he always ordered this for our morning dim sum whenever we had breakfast together when we visit him

Stir Fried Hor Fun with Pork
RM15.80
for such a small plate that 6 of us had chopsticks serving, this is astronomically priced!

Poached fresh seasonal vegetable : RM10.80
Chiam needed some greens so we had this....

My verdict of the dim sum....well having been brought up in Batu Pahat with the cheapest dim sum and the widest of choices at an eighth of  Tim Ho Wan's prices, I do not understand what the hype is all about.

I would rather have a lazy Sunday dim sum with you, Pa, anytime.
