What it's like to be parents of a Tween and 2 Twenty-Somethings

As parents of a tween and two twenty-somethings, life can swing from one end of the pendulum to another. For one, you cannot run away from High School Musical, Hannah Montana and The Jonas Brothers. For another, you have to fork out large sums of money to pay for college fees of the college going kid, and to endure work gripes of the eldest working girl.

So it was that we found ourselves in the cinema to watch HSM3 (High School Musical 3). Imagine 2 oldies surrounded by toddlers, then we found that we were not alone, these "toddlers" had managed to drag their parents to the show too.

The Road Less Travelled

For a vacation this year I took the road less travelled and chose a homestay-cum-meeting at Morib, Banting. A group of us teachers had a "Kursus Perasa" at Morib Impian resort which included a visit to destitute old ladies to offer our two cents worth of "help".....we ended up being on the receiving end instead...as they taught us a thing or two about being resilient, and about persevering and about how to overcome the odds!

Pictures show us arriving at the old abandoned old ladies' dilapidated houses off the fringes of Morib, us helping them and them giving us traditional tea and fruits, kueh besides plying us with tales of how they survived the tough times.

Besides some team-building and relaxing activities at the resort, we trooped to Banting town and did a spot of small-town shopping and grabbed endless packets of local chips and crisps like they were for free. Time did not permit, we zoomed past The Sidek Brothers house, the only indication being the BADMINTON RACKET bearing testimony to their claim to fame.....Try it! Try Morib, Take the Road Less Travelled!
