This is the brand of the cast iron woks which are now quite scarce.....
I ordered new cast iron woks from Yong Heng Batu Pahat because it was too troublesome to buy them in KL (lack of parking, traffic jam, etc). In any case, it is difficult to find shops that still stock these woks. They are so cheap! Only RM28 for the 46cm one and RM32 for the 48 cm. The name of the shop is printed there so you can look for it in Batu Pahat.
Uncle Terry had to deliver this new MyVi to Benny his brother in Kuala Lumpur, so brought the woks to me from Batu Pahat.
Uncle Terry at my house. He kindly collected and delivered the woks to me at my house.
Here they are: two new old fashioned cast iron woks (18 inches and 19 inches), quite rare now in modern times.
They will replace my expensive RM100 over non stick kwali (I had to collect points to buy this wok at Parkson)
The new woks were also to replace the old cast iron wok that served us so well, but it has grown thin.
Luckily this brand still makes cast-iron woks...my 90 yr old father-in-law likes to use these.
I actually fought with my FIL over this wok...he did not like my red wok, he says it is too flimsy
and fancy, but the old wok is now worn and needed to be replaced.
When the woks came,he was so happy he took it to his workstation and started to smoothen the edges.
Isn't his work station awesome??
It has soldering and welding facilities and would put any Kemahiran Hidup (Living Skills...a subject taught in Malaysia) laboratory to shame.
He is scraping the rough edges of the wok that can cut you. Next, he sandpapered the interior of the wok to get rid of the black colour and remove some of the iron remnants.
BTW he was so enthusiastic..he overdid the sandpapering!!! The wok now had a miniscule hole cos he scraped away the iron pastings over the holes!!!!

Any shops that sell this wok in KL that u know of? Tks
In KL maybe you can try Petaling Street old shop selling chinese crockery like the shop in Batu Pahat selling all sorts of bowls, plates,(morning glory design)and cast iron woks made in China. Or you can try Pudu market.
I want to add chinese wok to my kitchen....along with my indian wok. Will cast iron be better or carbon steel one. ..no clue
Cast iron wok is the best wok ever, better than tefal which actually releases dangerous toxic materials into your food. With chinese wok, the surface gets better with each use and becomes oilier and even acquires non-stick qualities. Iron wok also releases iron into the food!! check google...
