Dim Sum Yum Cha at Swatow Seafood, Singapore

Andrew and his family were still on holiday in Malaysia but Sandy and his family were available for lunch with us.
Lunch was Dim Sum at Swatow Seafood, Tao Payoh
Like in Hong Kong, there was a long queue to go in!

Sandy has been waiting in line, even after we have arrived!

Uncle Roger says this is a good spot for a photo opportunity.
And so it was!! Lady power again.
And here too!
Nice oriental decor befitting the place.

At last we got our table.

Here comes the bearer of a trolley of goodies!! No need to order or tick from a list like Hong Kong!

Hakka Restaurant

Holiday trips and family meetings are never without FOOD!!! Since we are all Hakkas, we went to a Hakka restaurant, (I do not know the English name)

The Hakkas are also known as Khek or Kerk Jia (guests of the land) the Hakka are guests (nomadic people) and do not have any permanent province, unlike Cantonese with their province Canton, Hainanese with Hainan and so on.

The facade is that of an old heritage shop house

Menu of dishes available

Salt chicken

Mui chai stewed streaky pork

Yong Tau foo
Beef on mee pok
Also known as Hakka mee

vinegar pig trotter

Abacus seed or suon pan chi

This shop has been featured in newspapers and journals

Hakka herbal soup is a hit with pregnant ladies

The shop may look small, but is fully utilised at the side and back of the shop
Uncle Roger enjoys his char siew pau away from the noisy ladies

The ladies
our big and growing family (only a part of us!)

Crystal Club at Park Hotel, Clark Quay

In Singapore we stayed at the exclusive Crystal Club (10th Floor) at Park Hotel.
Our room with "Privacy Service"

Park Hotel is right next door to Clark Quay, which is a cosy enclave for whites in the morning. You can see them jogging, bringing kids out and walking the dog.
Park Hotel by night

Breakfast was at the private club
With practically the whole place to ourselves.

Our quaint table by the window.

With a spectacular view

look at the view: clark quay in the morning
