Steamboat Dinner at Minyak Beku?Full house! Ocean Restaurant? FULLHOUSE!

After resting the whole afternoon at a country house where the shadows grew longer and longer streaming out the lattice, and where a whole book was read, it was time to go to our steamboat dinner.......NOT!

Afternoon rays silhouetted on marbled floor from latticed windows gave a languid and lazy feel......
Curled up on the armchair with a good read,
the stuff where dreams are made.

Don't you just love this time of the afternoon?

Move over, Eric Leong, if you need expertise on doing up your house, call Millie Loo, 0127002337, she can transform your house to what her aesthetically gifted eyes can see.......

Don't fret if you have the smallest of houses, she can work wonders, look what she has done to her terrace unit, not even corner house...

Then we were off to our steamboat dinner.  When Ong made his restaurant far from town on the way to Minyak Beku on a deserted plot of land, pple must have laughed....

It was so remote and not clearly visible from the road

There was ample parking space, but the crowd was HUGE!!! and it seems the pple keep coming, whether it's day or night, holiday or not!

Now Ong is laughing all the way to the bank.

Our next stop was Ocean Seafood Restaurant, a family favourite

No more tables!

Man Chor....FULL HOUSE

I forgot to note the name of this eatery, it is known for its assam fish head....the shop down the road for its black pepper crabs: "we must bring Sue Lin here for b.p.crabs" doting dad thought aloud.

Fresh fish head ...not frozen! I hate frozen food...I have never taken my meat, prawns and fish frozen as long as I lived in Batu Pahat, until I came to KL. Even the vegetables are boiled and then frozen here!! (I have since stopped this practice)

We had 6 dishes: claypot tauhu

Or chien or Oysters Omlette

Assam Fish head, signature dish

 Vegetable with salted fish

Best chicken wings that all the kids love

This shop is also well known for this sotong petai.

Busy tucking in. The damage?....see below:

RM118 for dishes

Total RM136.40 with rice and tea..for a party of 9!!!

Sexy Young Things Sing on stage for Hungry Ghosts.

Every year come the Hungry Ghost Festival, I will be like the hungry ghost..hungry for those sexy young singers on stage. A few years ago I went to fetch my son from tuition at Minda Ceria, and there at the morning market site, was a stage and a girl larger than life, belting out a song. What song? I couldn't care less, I was busy ogling her pre-pregnancy and childbirth unmarked belly and body!!!

What I would give to have her abs!!!

So adorable and appealing!

Notice the empty seats at the front row?....DON'T SIT THERE!!!!!  THEY ARE RESERVED FOR THE GHOSTS...HUNGRY OR OTHERWISE!!!!!

Blogaholic and Workshopaholic....Body Mapping workshop

Today I had signed up for 2 events : Clarins Eco Farm Activity with my youngest daughter
 and Triumph Body Mapping Workshop.

These are the plants that were offered at the clarins counter as part of their "Back to Nature Campaign"

Gotu Kola(Cantella asiatica) or plain old pegaga (water wort) .

Purslane (Potulaca oleracea) or Gelang Pasir

The Clarins back-to-nature activity is held at Bandar Harapan at Platinum Damansara, too far for me to drive at too early an hour.  But it looks great yah?

Nice or not? I bought the pegaga (I did not know that! the pegaga is such a common plant!)
and replanted it, and replaced the gunny sack thing with cactus from the balcony.
When you buy the plant, the Bandar Harapan Farm trip is free.

The Eco Farm thingie was too early (8 to 10.30) and she had ballet at 11....so did not go.  Before I went for
the latter, I felt an immense urge to blog...about my blood test, so I dashed off a post.

That made me late for the workshop!!!!

After battling the Loke Yew jam, went into the Gardens carpark but all full!!!

On reaching the venue (Isetan Gardens) workshop was over, ha ha ha!

Triumph Body Mapping Workshop at Isetan the Gardens..

But who cares.....at my age I have already mapped whatever is left of my body after 3 kids ...whether it's pear shape or inverted triangle,I tak kisah lah!!!
(pssst...I went for the voucher and goodie bag,  so now I got two, because I realised I went for a similar
one at Parkson)

This is an earlier workshop that I had attended (similar) at Parkson, Pavilion.

The Facilitator puts dummy on platform

Realistic: A slim model, and a plus size one

Publicity for the workshop(above) and below: two Triumph goodie bags. No food as it is puasa month.

Extra G string for Parkson Elite card members and Isetan members too!

I have 2 Parkson Elite cards so I got 2 g-strings...daughter took one
Nope....no picture of g-string for you, please scrutinise picture and picture
said g-string in your head.  What am I going to do with it? If I wear it, hubby will RUSH FOR BLOOD TEST!!!!!!

Drawing Blood

What is father and daughter doing????
DRAWING BLOOD!!!! YIKES!!!!!
It is time to take annual blood test again and luckily there is a resident doctor
in the house...no need to dress up, strip down (no lah joking onni)
find parking, take number and wait on tenterhooks for a pin prick.
THEN IT WAS MY TURN!!!
WHAT!!!
I HAVEN'T HAD MY BREAKFAST!!!
I NEED NOURISHMENT!! I FEEL FAINT ALREADY!!!

His Harvest of my blood!!!!
THREE PHIALS!!!
(er, and a container of early morning mid-stream "p")
I averted my face while he was putting the syringe and I could sense, that's one phial down
and another
(he pulls it out and caps it, inserts another...)
When done, I saw....so, much blood!!! the blood sucker!!!!
I could have died there and then.
I hope the people at Gribbles Laboratory treat my blood and my daughter's with respect.

My pariah dog, Coco, a mongrel.

After my daughter put up a post on Coco the dog, I decided to jump on the bandwagon. Now I detest cats and do not particularly care for dogs either. I never got attached to any of our previous dogs, giving them only the cursory glance and treating them as watchdogs only. But the last thoroughbred German shepherd Dickie was the only dog that won my heart...he was very intelligent and had soulful eyes that SPOKE TO me.

This is his last journey...I cannot bring myself to post bigger pictures of it as it lay strapped to the stretcher, his life ebbing out of his body.  I can never forget the look in his eyes...

Hubby was more aggrieved than you could ever think: he forbade any more dogs...so it was with great apprehension that big daughter brought back 2 pups she and her BFF (the girl next door) claimed they found abandoned by the roadside.   Just look at Cocoa (above) and Milky (below).......awwwwwww.....soooooooo...cute!!!!!!

This baby was actually playing and biting the strap of my camera as I was taking pictures of them!!!! Just like human babies!!!

Cocoa (Wai Sue named her Cocoa because she was brown and the other Milky because it was white)...now she is WHITE (no longer brown..so she has become Coco) so cutely biting and training her cutting teeth on the curled wire. So cute right?

This is how she looks like now: a fluffly ball of white!!!  She loves to put out her paw for a shake, is always jumping, and will jump outside the window when you are cooking for a glimpse of what you are cooking!!!!!

The best looking no brand dog in the world!!!

So what if I am not a pedigree....I am the epitome of cuteness!!! (Milky her brother went to live next door with Wei Sue)

I had my hair cut n coloured by Kevin Woo, director of Centro

After my niece joined Butterfly project, she had a free session from Centro Hair Salon at the Gardens, but sadly, she could not keep up with the appointments. Then I stumbled on Centro while visiting Cres (a wellness spa) and ended up having my hair cut and coloured by the director of Centro himself, Kevin Woo, because I had a voucher. (Cut, colour, treatment by director of Centro).

Kevin Woo, the director himself, he is very obliging and not camera-shy! He does a lot of publicity hair for events (Loreal) and he will be in the Philippines in September for a Hair Show (20-24 Sept).

He sms me, we are like old friends already!

This is the promotional picture for Centro

and the next picture shows the entrance to Centro..(I need a new handphone camera! so not clear!)

My voucher for the 5 in one (consultation, cut, wash, treatment and colour), if you go as a walk-in, you will not be so lucky as me to get the director himself.

My AFTER photo,......NO DIFFERENCE!!! Ha ha ha! It was my fault: I wanted a natural hair colour, I did not allow him to layer my hair, I hate bangs, or fringe, or showing my round cheeks...so, I ended up with the same look!!!!

This is what his facebook says about Centro Hair Salon:
Centro is led by its Creative Director, Kevin Woo.

create versatile trends that speak of its customers,
because they all know true style needs
no pomp or pageantry.

They made the disastrous sales sound so nice...

Do you remember my post on the BEAT THE HEAT closed door sales (Robinsons) where the queue was too long for us to get in, and when we got in, the goodie bags that were promised were all gone, and where the "canapes" were not enough for grabbing hands, and where people had to wait around the table for the caterer to bring out one plate by one plate????? And where shopaholic me and my daughter bought NOTHING?????

Well, yesterday in Star Metro they had a write up on it and they painted such a glowing picture of it:

"Special closed-door sale

ROBINSONS Cardmembers and DiGi subscribers enjoyed an exceptional, fresh and fun rewarding shopping experience at a recent closed-door event held exclusively for them.
In conjunction with the Robinsons “Beat The Heat” Mega Sale campaign, Robinsons and DiGi had collaborated in organising the event to reward their loyal customers with additional discounts and privileges at the Robinsons High-Summer 2009 collection.
Invited guests were showered with goodies on entering the store and treated to canapés and free flow of drinks to begin their shopping excursion.
Yeah, that’s it!: Shopper Nigel having fun with the DiGi Yellow Coverage Fellow.
Robinsons and DiGi had also lined up a host of enlivening activities, including lucky draw, games, cooking demonstration, live music and a DJ to jazz up the event.
One of the highlights was the appearance of the DiGi Yellow Coverage Fellows, who entertained the guests with their humorous gimmicks. Guests were seen taking photos with them.
The excitement continued with 10 lucky Robinsons Cardmembers walking away with Robinsons Cash Vouchers worth RM150 each via a lucky draw."

Wen Chean's blog on her birthday started my blog...

After visiting Jonathan's blog which had a big dedication to Wen Chean's birthday, I cannot believe that it is one year already.....one year ago, ie, I chanced upon WC's blog and was very taken in by the piece that featured her 19th birthday and the presents she got. (Actually I stumbled upon Isaac Tay's and Chai Boon Kheng's blogs first when Mr Wong told us to visit MBS website..I typed something wrong, and these two's blog appeared!) I envied that these teens had such eventful and interesting lives (from her blog I also clicked on others as my daughter taught me to do)...all the students had lots to blog about and led very happening lives!!!! We did not have such a thing as a blog in those days, and it seemed so fun, all this social networking stuff,oh, what we missed when we were young. So, I started a blog of my own, and went out to events and dinners so that I could come back and shoot off an entry! If Lau Cha Bor could do it so could I.

Hannah told me about Kenny Sia, and for a while I followed his blog. I got a few tips from him: never blog about your family, husband, boss, colleagues and other close family members or friends!!! which was very, very difficult as my life revolves inevitably around my husband, children, work and colleagues!!!!! so sometimes, as I said before, I let slip!

Then, as someone said, blogging is narcissistic, voyeuristic and I couldn't agree more. Like Xia Xue and Dawn Yang, I sometimes feel like putting up endless pictures of myself (narcissistic streak) but then, these two are young, pretty and slim albeit borlerline slutty and vainglorious. (Grrr, can't stand XX's platinum blonde hair, inch thick eyelashes and micro minis on short stumpy legs!!! or DY's impossible big eyes and poses that I can never imitate no matter how much I practise!!) Moreover I do not mind pple reading about my exploits (I support voyeurism)...as if anyone would want to read about an old has-been's wine dinners, or would they?????

Anyway, life is too short to agonise over trivial matters, and if I were to drop dead tomorrow like MJ and Yasmin (who are both younger than me!!!) at least I leave something in blogosphere for my loved ones and students (must try to make sure there's nothing controversial or objectionable in my pictures and writing)...and I've been told that what is posted in cyberspace, stays!!!

Happy birthday Wen Chean!
