New Year Eve Countdown Party At Setia Walk 2014

Small daughter had never been to a public countdonw party. When the 2 big ones were as young as 15 or 16 they had already gone to Bintang Walk or Sungei Wang for their countdown party.

So we brought her to Setia Walk...it was 10 at night and it was already very crowded!!!
It looked very happening, lighted, crowded, happy, colourful, and most of all, safe and controlled!!!
Many people already "chopped" places at this open air bar to wait for the countdown.
We were lucky to find a three seater for a quick dinner, as Dad had not had a proper dinner yet.
Nice and family oriented place!!! Throngs of people especially young couples and families were all out in full force!!!
The place we grabbed was Sun Restaurant.
You can see the crowd passing, all looking for seats and a place to wait for countdown.

He had yong chow seafood fried rice.
Our Drinks for the night
so nice, soaking up the atmosphere, it had rained so it was quite cool!!
She had bacon and mushrooms cabonara spaghetti.
Our bill came up to RM46...
cheaper than if we were to pay at least RM80 each for countdown at a hotel or restaurant.
Kids could play safely on the lawn.
Get ready!!! Countdown started!!! The DJ worked up a frenzy!!!
Hahaha!!! I got sprayed
and she had foam all over her which she quickly dusted off!
So fun!!! But we had to make a quick getaway to beat the traffic rush!!!!
 HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!

New Year's Eve stampede kills 35 in Shanghai after fake money was thrown from building

I was at the BUND last November 2014 ...tragedy occurred on 31 December 2014.........

SHANGHAI (Reuters) - A stampede killed at least 35 people and injured 43 during New Year's Eve celebrations in Shanghai, on the city's famed waterfront tourist strip known as the Bund.

The city’s annual New Year’s eve 3D laser display on the Bund was cancelled this year, after taking place for the last three years, according to Shanghai Daily.
One week before the New Year, Shanghai authorities cancelled the event which attracted nearly 300,000 people last year, reportedly due to crowd control issues.
many of the injured were students.
Densely packed crowds of revelers along the Bund, which is lined with buildings from Shanghai's pre-communist heyday on the bank of the Huangpu River.

Stampede was caused by people rushing to pick up fake money thrown from a building overlooking the city's famed Bund waterfront district.
medical workers stand outside the emergency ward of the No. 1 People's Hospital of Shanghai after a stampede caused casualties among people who took part in New Year's celebrations in Shanghai, early on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015. The report says the death and injuries occurred at the city's riverfront Bund area, which can be jammed with spectators for major events.
Security personnel (front) and policemen stand next to an entrance to a hospital where injured people of a stampede incident are treated, in Shanghai, January 1, 2015.

There is great  concern about crowd control in the days leading up to New Year's eve. They recently canceled an annual 3D laser show on the Bund that last year attracted as many as 300,000 people.

This picture shows "a little crowd" in Beijing....somehow, although I am of Chinese origin, I am so glad I am not a resident of China.....
