Seargeant at Arms

This year I opted out of the BOD line up even though I was given the post of secretary which I resigned. Tonight since the real Seargeant SAA had eye operation, I became the assistant and got to be SAA for the first time ever!!! 

After her cataract surgery paying her bills and waiting to go home 

I earned brownie points by offering her a ride, as I know she has no family here and she would need to get a Grab... but don’t worry !!! I’m here to take her back!!! 

Wow !!! I’m standing in for her tonight and I have a sash that says “Seargeant at Arms”!!!

Thought that I could be free during meetings not being  in the BOD anymore but being  the SAA was quite something else!! 

Open House at Taman Duta

Every year we go to Suri’s house for Hari Raya open house. This year hubby worked all day so we got to go after he had come back and rested for a bit. 

Lots of food and stalls/table serving Malaysian delectables.

I love the char Kway Teow and mee goreng so I had 2 helpings 

The main dishes: curries, rendang, ayam kurma, nasi beriani, lemang and satay

Errr.. no nasi lemak , but there’s ketupat and satay

So here now is a script of my evaluation that everyone said was good... ahem..I wrote it on the spot and as it’s the 2 nd time I’m speaking since my graduation I was a bundle of nerves but I did not let it show, I hope!! 

Mdm Chairman mdm President, friends and members of the Kuala Lumpur speakers club 

Our chairman today is a picture of poise and composure. With the perfect protocol dispensed with she immediately grabbed our attention and made us sit up to wonder why she chose the topic “open topic” 

Very quickly she put us through the paces and we soon understood her choice and became eager to listen to the 3 speakers with their diverse topics. With such an ambiguous title, she could however link the 3 speakers with their chosen stories, seamlessly. With her soothing voice and perfect diction, I could listen to her all day! 

Yes she looked quietly elegant and learning of her own revelation that she is OCD, nah... she is just fastidious and tidy! 

As for her distracting habits .. she had none... she does not fidget at all. 

Even with her mispronunciation of mahatma Gandhi which she quickly made amends , well she was able to difise the situation with a touch of humour: subsequently with the next name she sought the audience’s advice, this showed her humble side. She closed the session succinctly , the open topic became a platform for us to pour our hearts out on any OPEN topic!!!

The Definitive Rat Pack show

Anjali remembered that I wanted to go for this show so when Lynne had “plus one” tickets I was asked to accompany her. 

The show is by the British Theatre Pkayhouaw MALAYSIA .

The stage tonight...show started at 9, instead of stipulated time of 8.30 and I left at interval because I did not want to drive back alone too late.

Verdict of show: good rendition of the original songs and I am happy (or sad?) to say that I am old enough to enjoy and identify the oldies like Sway, Mr Bojangles, king of the road etc. Good trip down memory lane.
