For fans of the upcoming film of The Hunger Games, the odds are definitely in your favor with the January 24th launch of Capitol Couture! A fashion-forward Tumblr account, Capitol Couture gives readers a sneak peek at the crazy styles we can look forward to catching when the movie release on March 23rd.
"Whether you're a Capitol fashionista seeking inspiration for your latest look or a District citizen tracking rumors about the Tributes and other celebs, Capitol Couture is the only place to turn for pictures and news reports on the fashion, trends and lifestyle that make Capitol living so grand," says the site.
Straight from the heart of Panem's most chic city, the Tumblr features an online magazine layout that gives readers an insider's view at the runway-ready clothes and sky-high heels that Capitol residents will be rocking. And while we can't wait to see Jennifer Lawrence as our "girl on fire" Katniss Everdeen, the face that crowns the first installment is none other than everyone's favorite pink-coiffed trendsetter, Effie Trinket, as played by Elizabeth Banks!
As the capitol escort for District 12, Effie's profile describes her as a "fashion pioneer," whether she's chauffeuring her new batch of Tributes or walking around the streets of the Capitol. Fashion must-haves? Her signature wig, a flower-inspired hair piece, and haute footwear, with a spotlight on her favorite Alexander McQueen Gold Faithful boots. "The higher the heel the better. I just love love love dropping by the City Circle in my Perspex-heeled metallic booties!" she says in her interview. Can I make that quote my life mantra, Effie?

Other highlights in the first Capitol Couture installment include sneak peeks at majestic ensembles by Mugler and Craig McDean, a guide to gorgeous nails (as Effie says, "the odds are never in favor of homely nails!") and a selection of ah-mazing footwear "spotted!" on the heels of Capitol residents.

MEANWHILE READ ABOUT THE THEME SONG OF THE HUNGER GAMES
The moody, ethereal clip--which pays homage to the movie the song was written for, The Hunger Games--certainly is a departure for the usually sunny superstar. However, Swift, as she does with pretty much anything she tries, manages to nail her part perfectly.Taylor Swift in "Safe And Sound" video
As she explained to MTV, the shoot's location appealed to her (well-known) romantic side. "It's one of my favorite moments in the video; there's this wide shot, where I'm just kind of crumpled up sitting on a gravestone, and it's actually the gravesite of a couple who lived and died in 1853," she noted."I'm sitting here thinking, 'What were their lives like?' It's really eerie, considering what the movie is about and how it deals with life and death. It just absolutely blew my mind."
Swift cuts a spectral figure herself, her face ghostly pale and apparently free of makeup, wandering barefoot outdoors in a long white gown. The cloudy sky, overall gray lighting, and ramshackle deserted house she explores additionally add to the spooky vibe of the video.
Behind the scenes, though, Swift was still very much alive, and trying to keep warm! "It was freezing," she told MTV of the video shoot, which took place in 40-degree weather. "I was shaking the whole time and trying not to be shaking when the cameras were rolling."
Accompanying Swift on the track and in the video are the currently buzzy country duo the Civil Wars, who won two awards at the 2012 Grammys on Sunday and also introduced Swift's performance at the show.
The Hunger Games hits theaters on March 23. Meanwhile, Swift's latest film project, the 3D-CGI feature The Lorax, will arrive on March 2. Swift voices the role of Audrey in the movie, which is an adaptation of the Dr. Seuss classic.
