Malaysian Costume Birthday.

Went to a Malaysian costume party
and I dug up my green see through lace kebaya top
that was too sheer to wear for my school function

paired it with black bustier (sadly was too fat so opted for a black chemise) and a stripey see through skirt from Nichii!
when I reached, birthday girl busy collecting pressies
but had time to pose for photos with Joy and me

she spared no expense for her 60th...hawker stalls were set up in her secluded garden....and these are the stalls she had....

 I had this

and she had a live one man band who crooned oldies
my yummy seafood curry laksa, and of course I had to add raw see ham on top!!

of course, I headed to her dessert table which always laden and groaning with goodies

the dessert table had two orchids
where we took lovely photos, especially Joy who is a photo buff

老夫子Old Master Q

This is my awesome traditional chinese medicine shop in my hometown...

I grew up here
My bro and his family still runs the  business

Next to it where my old neighbours used to stay is a book shop
packed to the brim with all sorts of books
My bro in law likes to browse here, it is cool and who knows what treasures you can unearth

Look at the shop!!!
All sorts of stuff occupying even the 5 foot way!!

This girl is homing in on a treasured find...she seems to know what she wants...
what is this girl doing????

she is digging for something!!

she is so happy!
she found it!!

What????

 老夫子Old Master Q comic books!!!
Have you heard of  老夫子?
and so cheap!!!
only RM2 each which is pittance in SGD!!!
even though the storage rack was pushed close to the other rack
she knew how to push it aside to rummage for the Old Master Q books!!

picture from Wikipedia
my youngest daughter of course has never heard of , or read any of these books and my son said that he used to be entertained and amused by them while he waited for me at the hairdresser's, because there is no need to read the words....just the picture sequences are enough to send him on a chuckle!!

Walking the streets of Taipei for supper.

This is our last night in Taipei and we had just finished tea
at Deja Vu, Jay Chou's Cafe.
After resting at the hotel, we came out for dinner.

We crossed the road to the lanes between the buildings where there were lots of  stalls

this road is so different from the RoeHe night market....not so crowded but still bustling
son said we must try street food, so we walked around looking for suitable food

lots of food, some weird, some familiar
this looks like our "lok Lok"
 bit sized sausages
upside down pic, but it shows food sizzling in a hot pot
don't know what to eat haha!
wah!!! got queue!! must be delicious!!!
must be some omelette, from the "egg" in chinese character
 yes...she is making omelettes
we say Francis queueing up too!!! He promised he would let us try some!
as usual, we settled for beef noodles, hehe
 his beef ramen
my beef kway teow, big mistake, the flour was chewy and thick, nothing like our hor fun in Malayisa

then we went back to our hotel "JUST SLEEP"
I want to put this type of cushion seats at my dining table too! and  put mind games on the table for people to play!

A saying by Vincent Van Gogh for you to ponder.....tomorrow we will be leaving Taipei and Taiwan!

Poor Girl! (From" Perak Today")

Baru terjadi kat kenanga whole city, anak kecil berumur 6 tahun terjatuh dari escalator tinggat 2 ke B2, jarak kanak-kanak malang ini jatuh adalah setinggi 6 tingkat

A six-year-old girl died after falling from the second floor of the Kenanga Wholesale City Mall in Kuala Lumpur today.
The girl was believed to have been playing at the escalator when the incident occurred at 3.04pm.
Dang Wangi police chief ACP Zainol Samah said the girl, Nurhayada Sofia Musa, came to the mall with her parents. She died on the spot due to serious head injury.(from Mlaaysian Insider)

KUALA LUMPUR: The mother of six-year-old Nurhayada Sofia Musa is in the spotlight after a CCTV footage of her fiddling with her phone shortly before the girl fell to her death sparked outrage among Malaysians on social media.
In the minute-long footage, Nurhayada could be seen playing near the escalator on the second floor of Kenanga Wholesale City Mall with her sister and her mother nearby.
The mother had earlier been on the phone and then seemed to start texting. Later, the girl was seen climbing over the banister and falling through the gap between the balustrade and the escalator.
Nurhayada’s mother, who was until then still fiddling with her phone, ran down the escalator with her other daughter trailing after her.
Caught on camera: A grab from the CCTV showing Nurhayada climbing over the balustrade (pic 2) and falling through the gap between the banister and escalator.
City CID chief Senior Asst Comm Zainuddin Ahmad said police were investigating the incident which happened at about 3pm on Friday.
Also under investigation is the possibility of negligence by Nurhayada’s mother.
“We hope the public refrains from speculating on the matter,” he said.
A source close to the investigation said police had already questioned the victim’s parents.
Their statements were taken to facilitate investigations into the case, which was classified as “sudden death” with no elements of foul play.
“If we receive instructions to reclassify the case as negligence under the Child Act, we will do that,” said the source.
Malaysia Shopping Malls Association adviser H.C. Chan called for greater safety precautions, saying gaps should not exist between panels and escalators.
“There should be a barrier to prevent anyone from entering the space,” he said.
But he pointed out that parents who brought children to public places must also keep an eye on them.
Chan added that malls usually had signage reminding adults to accompany children when using escalators.
A spokesman of the mall yesterday declined to comment on the issue until police investigations were completed.
Association of Registered Childcare Providers Malaysia president P.H. Wong called on shopping malls to have child protection policies at their buildings so that they could minimise risk of accidents.
“It is also ultimately the duty of parents to look after their young children. The parents cannot assume that the kids can take care of themselves,” she said.-thestar
