Review of Captain Corelli's Mandolin by Lynn

Again during my spring cleaning I found an old magazine
where my niece was one of the editiors.
Innovative cover that looks like a bar code

My niece is the one on top..

the review that was written by her
Have you heard of this movie? It stars Nicholas Cage and Penelope Cruz.
I caught it because I had some free tickets!

A wonderful story of laughter and tears, life and death, love, coffee and a goat.
The date is 1941. War has engulfed the beautiful Greek island of Cephalonia and Mussolini’s Italian forces invade. Amid the chaos an unlikely love story starts to blossom.
Betrothed to another man, Pelagia’s life veers from the traditional when mischievous Italian Captain Corelli wins her over with his music, benevolence and zest for life. But can their love survive when the Italians are replaced by a German occupation?

The town of Sami was selected by the producers of the film of the same name, as the ideal location to film the movie. The film Captain Corelli's Mandolin is an ambitious Holywood production which will surely make the beauty of Cephalonia known.

The beautiful Greek Island of Cephallonia was a peaceful jewel in the Ionian Sea until 1941 when the war ravaging Europe landed on its shores. Italian troops are sent to garrison the island and Captain Antonio Corelli (Nicolas Cage), a conscript sent to the foreign land, falls in love with a lovely local girl, Pelagia (Penelope Cruz), in "Captain Corelli's Mandolin."
