Melbourne 2016 - Captain Cook's Cottage

Right in the middle of Fitzroy Gardens stands Captain Cook's house.
Now, the unique thing about this house is that it is not a replica of the actual house, but the ACTUAL house itself, transported brick by brick all the way from England,
and reassembled here!

2016 couple in front of the cottage.  You need to pay a nominal fee to enter.

once you enter, you can dress up in the era of Captain cook...how cool is that?
looks so authentic in front of the cottage!

Soon, my sister and me cottoned on the idea and wanted a piece of the action too. We got concession entry tickets because she is an Australian citizen while I am "ahem" a SENIOR citizen!!!! so we got quite a good discount, and all the better too, because it was close to closing time, and we had only limited time to play dress-up!
Meanwhile, these two hammed it up like real medieval man and wife!

soon, we got dressed and started the posing! We always pose here, because the photographer, my hubby did not buy any ticket to go in and had to take pics of us from over the fence LOL!

We did some playacting, like sweeping, acting all domesticated and docile!

She looked like a maid, I looked like a maid too, so, we decided to change clothes to look like "husseys" if you know what that means, I don't,

I loved her look and clothes, so I made her take them off to out them on myself, hehehe!!!

See? do I look better now? I hope so! I acted like a gangster, and yanked her clothes all off!!
Hmmmm.......three sisters now look like three sister damsels!
These youngsters! While we oldies went into Cook's Cottage to soak in a bit of history , even immersed ourselves in that era by wearing period clothes, but what did these young punks do?
They soaked in the sun instead!!! And lazed their bums off!!!
What, come all the way to Melbourne to lie on the grass?

Melbourne 2016 : Boat Paddling and Black Swan

My daughter takes up boat paddling so we went to watch her.

This is the place..I forgot the name!!! Will post here when I remember..it is in town.
We were late so her boat has left..but we waited for her to come paddling by again

It is next to this library

 hahaha! we are so patient!

There!! we could see other teams paddling their boat.
Then we got a treat!!!! Black Swans!! we couldn't see any in Perth, but here they are swimming towards us
Alas, we have no bread or crumbs for them!!
so we took lots of photos!!

So nice and tame!!
Then Sue's boat came in...wow!! I love to see them paddling in tandem and so in sync..
They are so disciplined, they work on cue, they do not sabotage each other, they cooperate with each other as everyone's well being depends on you!
You can see how attentive, committed, and serious  they ate to the intensive training and orders.
Meanwhile we enjoyed the view and we could see the bridge of the city of  Melbourne from here.
And the majestic well equipped library is the backdrop and our landmark to find this place.

Melbourne Pitchingga Ridge Alpaca farm

Have you ever seen a live alpaca? We havent't!!! Some of us have not even heard of alpacas!!
My sister rang up Pitchingga Ridge Alpaca Farm and made an appointment for us to make a visit.  David and his wife recieved us.

From far we saw a man leading the all black alpaca and we got all excited!!

And we got up close and personal with one..it was tame, domesticated and very very CUTE!!!!
Look how calm and cool they are! They are very used to humans and visitors!
David showed me the ropes and taught me how to handle one, and I was supposed to walk it like a dog!
hahaha!!! It was calmer than me! It could be walking me and not me, him!

Sue who loves animals, wlaked the alpaca like she walks one every evening, she was a pro!!!

Then more alpacas came running to us...they wanted to feed!
 OOOOOOHHHHHHHHH!!!! cuteness overload!

White alpaca besides the black ones.  Alpacas from Peru are brown and brown speckled.

We went to the gift shop and were shown alpaca merchandise
Carol fell in love with the alpaca fur throw.

us, too!!! ultra soft, fluff free and light as a feather!! Carol bought it!  It is now part of the sitting room decor and fully utilised by the kids.

The farm house is huge and hospitable, absolutely comfortable!

We were so glad Carol brought us to this alpaca farm for a unique experience!
