As we came out of Cu Chi Tunnel, it was time to board the van to get to Ben Nay for lunch.
This is our private bus, for only the four of us, and the tour guide
Saw this student (not much older than my youngest daughter) riding a bicycle from school
we reached the restaurant, we had to go over a cute little bridge
The architectural design of Ben Nay Restaurant has taken its inspiration from traditional Vietnamese style while adding modern accents. (From the brochure)Its tasteful buildings are placed in an intimate area of 5000 square meters with a capacity of 300 seats and divided into three zones: hall for 100 people (we were placed in a hall)
7 km from the famous Cu Chi tunnels, something quite different is waiting for you: Ben Nay restaurant is the place to rest and enjoy fine Vietnamese cuisine.
Located on a small isalnd surrounded by the flow of the Lang The River,
in the midst of green rice fields, Ben Nay is endowed with a view of the poetic, romantic and a peaceful, quiet landscape. visitors can enjoy the specialties of Vietnamese food while watching flocks of white storks flying to their nests over rice fields stretching as far as you can see. (No, we did not see any that day!)
Our place reserved for us, by the lake (relax with us in pleasant pastoral scenery and savour special dishes from our menu)
we could view the pond
full of water hyacinths floating past
the hyacinths were not in bloom that day
You can see from the picture the whole floating restaurant
Bustling and crowded with tourists: hall for 20 to 100 people
individual pavilions for dining
quiet bungalows for partied between good friends
setting looked cosy and grand
Ben Nay Vietnamese Cuisine
As a special treat, toruists can enjoy the pastoral dishes of Vietnam's southern waterways.
while waiting, played with the fan bought from vendors
cowboy waiters arrived with our food
suddenly everything was served at once
We had all of this for lunch!!!!
Fried Morning glory was actually kangkong or water convovulus
omeeltte with tomato(cut into four portions)
Fried chicken with fish sauce
Cooked fish in clay pot
Vegetable soup with fish balls
prawn crackers
Banana flower salad with chicken (so sour! no one touched this!)
Finished!!!! Except for the banana flower salad and morning glory vegetable!!
Then we went to the War Remnants Museum......
All the world leaders at that time are smiling, laughing and happy,
oblivious to
the Vietnamese who are crying, wailing and weeping over their dead and fallen husbands, children, and babies in the WAR.
Menacing looking war planes outside the museum grounds
Posing with the massive bombs, shells, grenades and whathaveyou
so lucky not to be vietnamese
Handsome, hunky , hale and hearty American tourist with hearthrob actor looks!!
(I am so good at alliteration, right?)
