Streets of Ho Chi Minh City

From our tourist van we could see lots of motorbikes. the
main mode of transport here

Even ladies in office wear, short skirts and high heels
then there is is this proliferation of wires and cables atop motorists' head
in between busy roads are pockets of green where people can lepak and take a breather from the hectic city  life
as always there is the karung guni or recycling man
before the frenetic and nerve wracking rush hour traffic starts, this is the eye before the storm
it has started! All manners of cars, bikes, bicycles, men women and children rushing to get home
they even come onto the pavement!!!Shocking!! I am the one in yellow T shirt...sandwiched by bikes!!!
girl in toll booth armed from head to toe against the soot and dust of the day's mad traffic
this will make our local astronaut pale in comparison!
there are no beggars, homeless vagrants and street kids, but a lot of hawkers selling much needed refreshments
posh shopping avenue not unlike the Champ Elysees of France
a cart, low stools, and you are in business, they disappear when everything is sold
more bikers! always got someplace to go!
we came out at 4.30 and left the children sleeping in the hotel, and got caught in this melee
we had to follow this couple to cross the road!!! Tour guide says :just keep walking, don't avoid the motorcyclist, they will avoid/ dodge you!
 Itinerant fruit seller
 peanuts seller
 roadside party
 roadside tete a tete
fron our van window..they are too close for comfort
hammock cafes everywhere along the highway!!! See the rows and rows of hammock slung on the low huts? You pay for one cup of coffee, the hammock is yours for an afternoon siesta
pavement chess, no need for table, or chair or adjudicators or sophisticated electronic scoring device

try to challenge them for a game of chess on the internet, you will lose, because they have lots of practice

can you imagine? this SUV actually did a U turn smack in the middle of all the motorcyclists!!
Lone hawker, anywhere, anyhow also can.
if you have a strong stomach, you can sample some roadside cuisine, an experience you will never forget. Me? I always wanted to sit on one of those low stools with sawn off legs.

 well stocked newstands...everything in Vietnamese

 window shopping for street fashion
you can also boil water on the streets for a cuppa ....pls turn yourself or your laptop upside to view
this hardworking lady serves all the hungry office workers with cheap and fast, nutritious noodle soup, just like Mum's homecooked food.
