Theres a movie showing on HBO that really tugs at your heartstrings.....Hachiko, a dog story.

Inspired by the real Hachiko, a Japanese dog whose statue is immortalised at a Japanese station

This version stars Richard Gere and shot at Rhode Island, a quiant town (my sister had a pen pal once from Rhode Island in the 70's)

Hachiko waits at the station at 5 pm without fail for his master

Beautiful perfect dog

together they will go back, they share a close bond

he has a normal family life, his daughter gets married

look at the time on the clock, at 5 when he gets off the station, he plays with his dog

professor and dog

the cute little station

Columbus, the place where the professor lectures

the only nemesis that can prevent the dog from going to the station

the skunk is blocking the entrance, and Hachiko did not dare to go to the station!

the house where his master stays

the little roundabout where Hachi will wait

things changed one day

Hachi waited till dark

but his master did not alight

yet he waits

at 5 p.m. sharp

in any weather

and waits

till dark........

the house has been sold

his shed now has a new owner too

what he does not know is that his master has died

he was not brought to the funeral

he still looks for his master to come out

which he never did

this is the part where the flood gates start

faithfully the dog waits for his master

now he looks sad

his family moved and brought him to the new house

but he is indifferent, even to the baby in the walker

as soon as she opens the door, Hachi runs out!

her husband runs after Hachi!

Hachi went back to the station!

the tracks where his master travelled

back to the old station

other dogs have master/mistress...where is his master?

he goes back to his usual waiting place

takes up sentry

not even other dogs can distract him

life goes as usual around him
people come and go

but not a sign of his master

many summers

many springs

many autumns

and winters......
for nearly a decade, he waits

he always comes back to this house

until he realise his master will not appear here anymore
for nine years he does this, he is now getting old and feeble!!
his master's wife visits him after 9 years!

she is touched, such faithfullness is astounding

spoiler alert! spoiler alert!!!!

how is the show going to end????
will his master come??

not a dry eye in the house!

the first time my daughter watched this her flood gates never stopped! this is her second viewing, she is still moved to tears!

eeks! son's gigantic wad of tissues! Didn't his mother teach him to tidy up after himself?
wait a minute, I AM HIS MUM!!!
I was too busy taking photos I did not notice everybody had left after the movie!
(If you're wondering about the breed (race) of the dog Hashi, it's an Akita, a really cute Japanese dog. )
