My Elephant Hartamas Dinner By Irene

The convocation calls for a celebration dinner and we were invited to My Elephant Hartamas to celebrate! Yummy!!! This restaurant is touted to be one of the best around for Thai food.

Wow!!! what a spread!!

I don"t know what is what but here are the names of the dishes:
Yum Som Orr, Snow Fish, Duck Curry, Gong Tod Gratiam Prik Thai, Tom Yum Green Chicken with Red Ruby and Mango Pudding for dessert.
my serving

 Paku Pakis, the roadside fern

For greens, paku shoots (RM15) stir-fried with belacan, sliced onions and red chilli are a treat. The young ferns are extremely fresh and crunchy in texture. A sprinkle of browned chopped garlic adds to the flavour

My Elephant has a reputation for fish dishes, in particular its “Snow” salt-baked fish

Snow fish (fish in blocks of salt)

On the side is a trio of sauces — Thai chilli sauce, tamarind sauce and My Elephant's special lime and chilli sauce.

 Green Curry
creamy hot curry!!!

An all-time favourite is gaeng phet yaeng (from RM30). The roast duck curry is scented with lychee in a rich, creamy gravy by Tan Bee Hong
Vegetable curry
Prawns

Our plate of gong tod gratiam prik Thai  is deep fried prawns  that has been marinated  with kaffir lime leaves, garlic and crushed Thai peppercorn

nice pomelo salad

The yum som orr is delicious. Pomelo flesh tossed with nuts, sesame seeds, onions, lime juice and various herbs is served with poached prawns. The pomelo is juicy and sweet, with just the slightest hint of bitter aftertaste but this is quickly smothered by the dressing.......by Tan Bee Hong
