this is a view of the shop
and please look at the people standing outside..
Yes, they are queueing! For dinner! And they are so patient!!!
Because those who have a table, will take their own sweet time to enjoy their food!!!
Other people, like me are taking photos of the long queue outside the shop!
You might think it is a busy road, with all these people crowding outside the shop
But you think wrong, if you look at the other side, the road is dead save for some parked cars and bikes
this coffee shop is deserted and the old man can even have the luxury of putting his food on the stool
meanwhile, my daughter and hubby are still queueing...
Those who are eating are unperturbed other people are looking at them or waiting for them..
see, how long the queue is?
You can even send off a blog post by then.
or camwhore
I tried q ing for a while, or maybe pose in the q to take a photo...
actually I had a seat and lorded it over the crowd!!!
Finally we are in!!! We have a table!!!
the interior of the shop
so crowded right?
our seat is right next to the refrigerator of food!
wow!!! what an array of tantalising proportions and choices
sotong,
prawns
liver
cockles
cartilage, ear,
skin and gelatin
meat....ARE YOU GOING TO TAKE INDIVIDUAL PHOTOS OF ALL THE TRAYS OF FOOD????
My daughter said: incredulously!!!
But I was! Then I caught hint of the unveiled sarcasm in her voice so I aborted my mission...
But I was! Then I caught hint of the unveiled sarcasm in her voice so I aborted my mission...
and took pictures of all the food together...
sausages, fishballs, meatballs
sausages, fishballs, meatballs
tofu, yong tauhu, kangkung..all sticks are RM0.90 each
plates of century eggs, scallops, crabstick (purple plate orange and pink plates have different prices)
fried dumplings, wanton, fish cake, sliced meat sausage
see for yourself lah, what food, I can't name all of them
we did not know what to choose!
back to our seats...note the white people enjoying themselves at the next table
daughter's choice
dad's turn
then comes the ritual of making the satay celup sauce
his two tins of spices are top secret
generous scoops of pounded peanuts
great scoops of cinnamom, five spice powder and other highly guarded trade secret spices
closer look of what's in the tubs
he stirs them up for you, these will be replenished every so often and they do not stinge on the sauce
signages to inform you
enjoy!!!
I need to tell you their funny strategy: when you have nearly finish your meal..
out they will bring some choice cuts and sticks of expensive stuff like abalone, prawns, mussels, scallops, etc which also cost RM0.90
but by then, you would have been very full already!!
So next time, eat slowly, don't take too much and wait for the choice tray of food
the expensive prawns that also cost 90 sen
now we are done!!
wow!! we have eaten so much!!!
the damage? RM 60 + for the three of us which means only 20 ringgit each! Cheap buffet!!!
Worth the queue!!!
And do wait for the expensive (yet cheap) tray that they will produce near the end of your meal!!!
What to eat in Malacca
2.Satay Celup
A Malaccan institution, satay celup is a fondue-style meal with skewered raw and semi-cooked meats (such as chicken, beef, pork and seafood) that are cooked in a communal pot of scalding hot, thick peanut-based gravy. Besides themeats, there’s also a variety of vegetables including tofu, kangkung and more for customers to choose from. Therestaurant prepares the skewered meats and vegetables and stores them in huge refrigerators – customers select their satay and then dip it into the boiling sauces to stew. The best places (Restoran Capitol, Restoran Ban Lee Siang) feature thicker, nuttier sauce than that of other places.
