A million in Klang Valley to go without water - maybe for days
Over one million consumers in seven districts will be affected by water disruption due to the closure of the Sungai Selangor Phase 1, 2 and 3 and Rantau Panjang treatment plants to facilitate clean-up works.
The current treated water reserve at the four plants can only last for a day.
The four plants produce 2.67 billion litres of water daily, catering to 57% of water demand in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.
Districts affected are Petaling, Kuala Lumpur, Klang/Shah Alam, Gombak, Hulu Selangor, Kuala Langat and Kuala Selangor.

RAWANG: The oil spill which caused water shortage throughout major areas in Selangor was found to be intentional, said the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) today.
The owner of the factory which discarded an estimated two tanks of oil into Sungai Gong directly adjacent to the entrance, was found to be a former rubbish contractor for the MPS.
President Mohd Azizi Mohd Zain expressed his disappointment.
"This is really sad. Based on my officers who had done a thorough check, it was evident that the two oil tanks here were used to dump the oil in the river.
"We had contacted him (the owner) to be present today, but he is missing and instead sent his supervisor who doesn't want to comment on the incident," Azizi told the New Straits Times today.
The oil spill in the Sungai Gong was controlled by 3am by three oil sorbent booms placed at the factory entrance, Sungai Bakau and Sungai Sembah, which would act as oil filters.
