2nd Day Taiwan

On the 2nd day we covered so many places in Taoyuan!!!

First we went to a hot spring village Beitou

"Beitou  ....Terrestrial Heat Valley ~ the hot spring that flows from the valley which is sulphurous and highly erosive"

See, how misty and foggy the place is?  and it was very cold to boot, plus rainy and wet!!!!

at one point, you can hardly see anything except whirls and twirls of "sulphurous and highly erosive" mist.. hehe...it was smelly and pungent too...

Then we went to Soong Mei Ling's (wife of Chiang Kai Shek) Shilin Residence with beautiful gardens and we found this "love"  hedge...
and we had to take a "together" photo

to recreate our photo taken 30 years ago

Next stop was Chiang Kai Shek's memorial
the National CKS Memorial Hall ~ the famous monument erected in memory of Chiang Kai-Shek.
see? 30 years ago and now!!
wow!! what do you think?
A trip to the miniatures museum is next...

"Miniatures Museum of Taiwan within around 200 miniature arts in the museum. You will see several of dollhouses, room boxes and the smallest TV is in the museum."

I love this museum! the details are realistic, fantastic  and

meticulously madeand researched...I could not get enough of seeing

 each scene...but

we had to rush to the next place: Chiu Fen Old Village

Chiufen ~ see the old fashioned way of life that still exists.
Here you will enjoy your own lunch with local delicious like fish ball, oyster’s noodles, Taro, sweet potato, yam desserts and many more.
Or Jiufen. Located in New Taipei City (Taipei County), Chiufen village used to be the center of gold mining. This small village is located within hills, next to the mountains, and facing the ocean. Due to its special location, Chiufen village is well known for its foggy weather condition which creates a romantic atmosphere. The name Chiufen comes from a legend where nine families used to live in this village. Before the development of Chiufen, there was a lack of transportation which made trips to the market inconvenient. Therefore, whenever one family goes grocery shopping at the market, they would be divided what they have bought into nine pieces for each of the families. “Chiufen” literally means “nine pieces” in Mandarin, and this is how the village name came from. Today, Chiufen features an old street that is full of local snack vendors and special accessory stores. Various foods such as “Yu Yuan” (taro balls), fried meat balls, steamed taro cakes, and herbal rice cakes, are the Chiufen’s specialties. In addition, Chinese teahouses in this area are also very popular for both local and foreign tourists. Chiufen have beautiful sceneries so many tourist came to drink tea during night to appreciate the night view.  Another feature here is the Gold Ecological Museum
Look at me in my baggy raincoat? The rain was a bloody nuisance!
we had yummy beef ramen again..this was even better than last night's!!!
En route to Hualein we stopped at a temple with the sea opposite

Nan-Fang-Ao a hardcore fishing town is located in Su-Ao County in northeast Taiwan,
visit to
Nantian Temple ~ it is the landmark of Nan-fang-au and also the worshipping center of traditional religion for the local citizen.
Located at the end of the first fishing pier, Nantien (South Sky) Temple is dedicated to Matsu, Goddess of the Sea. It was built during the Japanese Occupation, and was rebuilt in 1951. The most attractive feature of the temple is the Mastu statue, which is made of gold. The temple is the center of religious for local citizens. There are many restaurants nearby so visitors can enjoy fresh and delicious seafood during their Yilan trip.

Finally we had this dinner which we could not finish..so much food for the 8 of us!
And, now I am at my hotel, The Liga in Hualien
We have travelled from Taipei to Taoyuan to Hualien..
